Mikvah Tahara's askanim have built in Jewish communities on five continents and thought they had seen everything. Then they met the kehillah in Cordoba. No family there owns a car, and the nearest mikvah is three hours away, so each time a woman goes the family hires a car service. The fare costs them a full third of a week's earnings — money already stretched to cover food and rent. Skipping the mitzvah is simply not treated as an option.
