Chabad Cannes
About this booklet
The Centre Israelite Habad Cannes was founded in the 1980s by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Matusof, who was joined in 2000 by his son, Rabbi Mendel Matusof. Its synagogue and cultural centre have grown steadily since, and the programme now runs for every age group under Rabbi Youdi Lewin and his team.
Alongside its daily work with the Jews of Cannes and the surrounding region, it serves as an international centre, welcoming visitors from across France and around the world — during the Film Festival and throughout the rest of the year. Each summer some ten summer synagogues open along the coast, and the mitzvah campaign runs on the Croisette with the Mitzva Tank, the Mitzva Smart, the Shabbat Shalom aerial banner, and 15,000 packets of Shabbos candles given out.
The booklet presents the community in French and English, side by side.
